MESSAGE FROM THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR
My Fellow Lions, 8/26/10
“Have you taken the pledge?” I have!
No I am not speaking of a religious commitment or self-improvement commitment.
What I am speaking about is declaring your commitment to Lions ideal of service. Join President Scruggs and your DG in pledging to “support and participate in your Lions club's service activities and to make a difference in someone's life this year. Add your name to the growing list of members who know that their personal efforts can bring light where there is darkness and despair and that by working together, Lions can have a huge impact on the entire world”. You can find the link to ‘Take the pledge’ by typing Service Commitment Pledge into the search box in the upper right corner of
LCI’s webpage or by coping this link,
Both ways will get you where you want to go. I hope to see your name there.
As we focus on service this year I have a question to ask you about your clubs. Does you club have a signature service project? When you speak to the members of your community do they know how you serve your community? If you can’t answer this question consider spending time in September focusing on your club’s service projects. By starting new service projects we reenergize our older members, empower our newer members and excite the community regarding Lionism.
We have our first Cabinet Meeting of the year behind us and I want to take a moment to thank the Greene Township Lions for hosting and serving a delicious steak dinner. I also want to thank all Lions who came out to vote in the special election that was held that day to nominate PID Harold Ott. We had 68 Lions from our district vote which was a great turnout. A special thanks also goes to our Election Committee; PDG Tom Feeney, PDG Ollie Rodax, PDG Scott Ladner, PDG Jim Eldridge for the fine job they did.
Yours in Lionism.
DG Dave
